You are integral to the mission of this school and we’re grateful you have entrusted your child to us during their high school years. As we work together in creating faithful disciples of Jesus Christ it is important that we support each other in our roles. The pages under this section have pertinent information so you are up to date on what is happening at Lansing Catholic. Whether it be starting a family discussion based on what you find in the Skyward Family Access program, a teacher’s class web-site, an article in the Parent Update, or possibilities for Christian service projects use this information to stay informed and involved in the life of your high schooler!
Parent Book Club
This year we are starting a Parent Book Club with a book that our faculty and staff read last year: Matthew Kelly's, Rediscover Catholicism. Copies are available in the main office. The following dates are when we will be meeting as well as what parts of the book we will be discussing:
- Jan 12, 2012 "Where to from Here" and "We Become What We Celebrate" p. 13-66.
- Jan 26, 2012 "The Authentic Life" p. 67-144.
- Feb 9,2012 "The Seven Pillars of Catholic Spirituality" p. 145-284. We will view DVD by M. Kelly that covers this topic. Even if you are not reading come to this one!'
- Feb 23, 2012 "Now Is Our Time" p.285-324
All sessions will be held in the school library beginning at 7pm and will last 1-1.5 hrs. You can view the study guide at http://www.lansingcatholic.org/images/pdf/Rediscover%20Catholicism%20Study%20Guide.pdf .

You can also stay connected with other parents, too. On most first Wednesdaysof the month we have a regular parent meeting from 7-9 p.m. in the cafeteria. The night begins with prayer and a special topic and then each grade level meets with the class moderator to plan activities or to discuss issues relevant to the class. There are a few months where, due to other events we want parents involved in, we do not host a parent meeting. This year’s dates and topics are:
- August 16

- September 7

Talking with other parents who have had older children come through Lansing Catholic is another great way to learn about the best way to do things. You can always contact the class moderator for your child’s class. Part of their role is to keep you informed regularly about life at Lansing Catholic.
Parents are needed as volunteers with class activities but also with other areas of school life. Learn more about how you can volunteer by clicking on the link above.
Thank you for being part of the Lansing Catholic family!
