		Students - Band and Choir
		Band & Choir Band and choir are academic courses at Lansing Catholic High School. That means, when a student takes band or choir, he or she receives academic credit. Performances for both groups are many throughout the year, including a much-loved Costume Concert. Additionally, the band marches at Homecoming and for a select number of football games during the season. Check out the concert dates and join us. Band Camp Information The Lansing Catholic Marching Cougars travel to the Bethany House Retreat Center in Dewitt, Michigan. Students rehearse from 8:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. breaking for lunch, dinner, and free time. Evenings are reserved for group activities and chapel. Basic marching skills are learned and the band begins to learn the halftime and pre-game show that they march throughout the season. 2010 Band Camp is scheduled for August 2-5! Students interested in participating in the marching band should plan on attending marching band camp. Full and Partial Scholarships are available to those in need. Courses Band Class Band class provides students the opportunity to learn about music through performance. Students maintain an active schedule by preparing classic and contemporary band literature for marching band and formal concerts. Additional opportunities available include taking part in District and State Solo & Ensemble Festival, Band and Orchestra Festival, and pit orchestra. Band membership is open to students playing traditional brass, woodwind, or percussion instruments. Choir/Honors Choir Choir/Honors Choir provides students the opportunity to learn about music through performance in Choir/Honors Choir. Students maintain an active schedule by preparing classic and contemporary choral literature by participating in performances within the surrounding community. Additional opportunities available include taking part in District Solo & Ensemble festival and Choral festival. Choir membership is open to any students attending Lansing Catholic High School. Jazz Band Led by Mr. J and Fr. Gordon, this class meets two days a week before school. See either one for more information. Band and Choir Events Calendar October 28 - Trick or Treating & Costume Concert Come in Costume! Trick or Treating begins at 6:30 p.m.; Concert begins at 7:00 p.m. in the gym. Marching Band, Choirs, Middle & High School Combined Bands December 3 - Spirit & Song Members of the choir will be performing at the 2nd annual Spirit & Song celebration beginning at 7:30 pm. For more details see the Special Events page under the Giving section. December 6 - Choral Christmas Concert Our two school choirs will bring in the Christmas season with a selection of songs to get you in to the spirit! Join us at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium on Monday, December 6. December 8 - Band Christmas Concert LCHS Concert Band and Meridian Concert Band will join together to play some Christmas selections. The concert begins at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 8 in the auditorium. January 29 - Choral Solo and Ensemble Students will have the opportunity to participate in this statewide competition demonstrating their vocal skills. February 6 - Band Solo and Ensemble Students will have the opportunity to participate in this statewide competition demonstrating their musical talent. February 23 - Mid Winter Concert Shake off those mid-Winter blues and join us for a combined choir and band concert at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium on Wednesday, February 23. February 24 & 25 - Choir Festival Choir students will compete with other choir students at this annual festival. February 26 - Band Festival Our band members will compete with other students in this annual festival. March 26 - Band State Solo & Ensemble Students will have the opportunity to participate in this statewide competition demonstrating their musical talent. April 30 - Spring Fine Arts Festival Spring in to Summer with our 3rd annual Fine Arts Festival! Celebrating the fine arts accomplishments of students from the area Catholic schools, this festival will showcase the artwork, design, and musical talents of area students. May 4 - Spring Concert and Ice Cream Social Another combined concert to signal the end of the school year. Join us for some great music and a little ice cream to celebrate the warm weather! The concert begins at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4.
