 Grades:

  • There will be a test at the end of each chapter as well as two or three quizzes per chapter. Homework will be collected regularly.
  • You can retake any test for up to a 65%, but it must be made up within a week of the date of the original test.
  • All work must be shown for full credit and done in pencil.
  • Grades will be figured based on the total points earned divided by the total points possible. Points are earned on quizzes, tests, homework, and a story problem for each chapter.

 Expectations:

  • You are expected to:
    • Come prepared for class every day
    • Participate in class every day
    • Do the daily homework which is assigned
    • Work together cooperatively
    • Expect some difficulty
    • Follow school policies
    • Attendance -both physical and mental
    • Respect each other and yourself
  • I will:
    • Come prepared to teach every day
    • Help students learn the concepts of Algebra
    • Be available outside of class for questions
    • Have study sessions before tests

Suggestions for being successful:

  • Attend class - be on time for class and try to avoid scheduling appointments during school hours.
  • Ask questions often and participate in class.
  • Do the homework carefully. It is great to work on assignments with someone; however, there is a difference between working together and cheating.
  • Be organized. Keep a folder for handouts and homework and bring it to class every day. Don't let your book be your folder.

 Policies:

  • You will be marked tardy if you are not in your seat when the bell rings.
  • All assignments, tests, and quizzes should be done in pencil.
  • Late assignments are accepted only in cases of illness, not for field trips or athletic events.
  • Your behavior should reflect that you are here to learn and not to disturb or keep others from learning.
