We believe every student can succeed when given the right tools, guidance, and encouragement. Our approach to academic support focuses on developing independence, resilience, and strong learning habits that serve students well beyond high school.
Support at Lansing Catholic is proactive, personal, and integrated into daily school life.
Academic Support Resources
Students with diagnosed learning differences are supported through individualized Student Support Plans. Our Director of Special Education works closely with students and families to identify appropriate accommodations and strategies that allow students to succeed while continuing to grow toward independence.
The Resource Room provides structured academic support for students who need extra help in math, science, reading, or organization. Students also receive instruction in executive functioning skills such as time management, planning, and study strategies.
Reading and math interventionists provide targeted support through one-on-one instruction or classroom-based assistance. These interventions are designed to strengthen foundational skills while keeping students engaged in their general education coursework.
Lansing Catholic uses a Multi-Tiered System of Supports. A team of counselors, teachers, and administrators meets weekly to review student progress using data related to academics, attendance, and behavior. This allows students who are struggling to be identified early and supported quickly.
When appropriate, the MTSS process may include recommendations for further evaluation. Testing and evaluations are provided at no cost through the Ingham Intermediate School District.
National Honor Society students offer peer tutoring across a wide range of subjects. This near-daily support provides an additional layer of help and reinforces a culture of collaboration and service.
Teachers are the first line of academic support. They are available before and after school to help students review material, make up work, and deepen understanding. This accessibility reinforces strong relationships and encourages students to advocate for themselves.

A Personalized and Proactive Approach
Academic support at Lansing Catholic is available to students at all performance levels. From classroom-based help to structured intervention, students are surrounded by adults who know them, advocate for them, and help them develop strategies for success.
Support begins early and adjusts as students grow, ensuring that challenges are identified quickly and addressed thoughtfully.

This long-term approach ensures that students are prepared not only academically, but thoughtfully and confidently for life after Lansing Catholic. Support includes:
Learning Differences and Inclusive Support
Lansing Catholic welcomes students with diagnosed learning disabilities and provides support that is intentional and respectful of individual needs.
Support may include:
- Explicit reading instruction and tutoring
- Tailored classroom accommodations
- Executive functioning skill development
- Real-time academic support for homework and classwork
Our goal is not dependence, but empowerment. Students learn how to understand their learning needs, advocate for themselves, and develop strategies that will serve them in college, career, and life.
A Learning Environment Designed for Success
The academic support classroom includes quiet testing areas and structured spaces that allow students to focus and perform at their best. This space is used by students who need a quieter environment, as well as by general education students who are making up assignments due to illness or absence.
This flexibility allows students to stay on track during the school day without creating additional burdens outside of school hours.
Supporting the Whole Student
Academic support at Lansing Catholic is rooted in respect, encouragement, and high expectations. We accept students where they are academically, while equipping them with the tools and confidence to grow.
Students leave Lansing Catholic not only with knowledge, but with self-awareness, perseverance, and the ability to navigate challenges independently.
