Forming Minds. Shaping Hearts. Inspiring Disciples.
Our mission is simple but transformative: Lansing Catholic forms students spiritually, intellectually, and socially into faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. Here, education is more than grades or classes — it’s a journey of discovery, courage, and purpose. Every student leaves ready to lead, serve, and bring light to the world.
Mission Statement
The Lansing Catholic High School community forms students spiritually, intellectually, and socially into faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.

Motto & Cornerstones
Motto Docens Modum Vivendi • Teaching A Way of Life
Our four cornerstones — Faith, Service, Excellence, Tradition — guide every lesson, every class, and every moment. They form the foundation for students to grow in character, faith, and wisdom. It’s what sets Lansing Catholic apart: students leave not only with knowledge, but with values that last a lifetime.

Our Philosophy
At Lansing Catholic High School, education is more than what happens in a classroom. It's the formation of the whole person: spiritually, intellectually, and socially.
We believe every student is a masterpiece in the making and shaped by the hands of the Divine Potter (Isaiah 64:7). Our role is to help them see what God already sees: the gifts, potential, and purpose He’s placed within them.
Rooted in the joy of the Gospel and faithful to the teachings of the Church, we guide students to know the Truth, live with virtue, and love boldly. Through study, prayer, and service, they learn that every human pursuit finds its meaning in Jesus Christ — “the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6).

Historical Legacy
A Tradition of Faith and Excellence
Catholic education has shaped young lives in Lansing for more than a century. From St. Mary Cathedral High School (1902–1963) to Monsignor Gabriels and O’Rafferty High Schools (1963–1970), generations of students have grown in faith, knowledge, and character.
Lansing Catholic High School opened in 1970, a merger of Gabriels and O’Rafferty. A new name, Cougar blue and silver, and a mascot — the Cougars — marked a fresh beginning. Today, we honor this legacy while preparing students to meet the future with courage, wisdom, and purpose.
Our Story, One Chapter at a Time
For more than 120 years, Lansing Catholic High School has been forming hearts and minds through faith, service, and academic excellence. From our earliest days as St. Mary’s High School to today’s vibrant community of learners, every generation has added its own chapter to our story, guided by Christ and united in purpose.

Graduates & Legacy
Faithful Disciples, Ready to Lead
Together with parents and the wider Catholic community, we form students who are ready to answer Christ’s call: “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19).
Our graduates leave Lansing Catholic filled with faith, guided by wisdom, and inspired to bring light into the world to build, as St. John Paul the Great said, a civilization of love, justice, and peace.
